ABSTRACT
The paper argued that information begets education and an educated person is not that who memorised fact, theories, philosophies and other aspects of knowledge. Rather, an educated person is that who has accumulated information from which the required knowledge, ideas and experiences are derived formally and informally and who can know which information is needed, when to get it and where to get it. It submitted that information is anything or instance we come across formally or informally, consciously or otherwise that add to our exiting knowledge, experiences, ideas, and skills, The paper discussed the dimensions of conflict and peace, and achieving peace and sustainable development within the context of effective access to information and education. The Nigerian factors in access to information and education, the challenges to effective accesses, and the initiatives needed to meet up to expectation in access to information and education for peace and sustainable development in Nigeria were highlighted. It concluded that, the Nigerian nation has no option other than to accept, embrace, promote and sustain all genuine, realistic, implementable, manageable and accountable efforts, initiatives and programmes aimed at effective access to information and education to domicile peace, security, harmony, justice and sustainable development in the country.
