ABSTRACT
This study was on assessment of interactive whiteboard availability and utilization among lecturers in Federal Colleges of Education in Northeast, Nigeria. Four specific objectives were to find out: the extent of availability of interactive whiteboard, perceived usefulness of lecturers towards utilization of interactive whiteboard, lecturers' level of self-efficacy in using interactive whiteboard, and the influencing years of experience and genders on lecturers' use of interactive whiteboard for instructional purposes in federal colleges of education in North-East, Nigeria. The study adopts survey research design in order to address the research problem. A total of 435 respondents drawn the research sample from a populations 751 formed. A questionnaire titled (QIWBUIP) was to collect data. The instrument was validated pilot tested for reliability, yielding coefficient index of 0.82 using Cronbach's Alpha was obtained from the pilot study. The research was answered using mean and standard deviation. The research hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance using the Non-parametric statistics. Hypotheses 1, 2 and 3 were tested by Kruskal Wallis, while hypotheses 4 was tested using the Man-Whitney statistics. Results indicated that there no significant differences with regards to the respondents' opinions on the null hypothesis. The finding of the study reveals agree that there is availability of interactive whiteboard in Federal Colleges of Education in North-east, this shows that the lecturer's perceived usefulness of interactive whiteboard for instructional purposes in Federal Colleges of Education, this shows that the level of lecturer's self-efficacy of using interactive whiteboard based on year of experience in Federal Colleges of Education and also shows that the lecturers faced challenges in utilization of Interactive Whiteboard in Federal Colleges of Education. The following recommendations are made. Lecturers should be giving opportunity to identify and exploit available interactive whiteboard (IWB) for their instructions, Adequate funds should be allocated to the colleges for provision of more IWB with its components, Workshops, train and retrain should be organize in other to make colleges lecturers more competent and effective in relations to Interactive Whiteboard utilizations and alternative power supply sources to drive this equipment should provide in teacher training institutions.
