ABSTRACT
Architecture is that field of human endeavour that concerns itself with man's essence of being, in a comfortable environment.Architecture can only foster enjoyable experience and consequent appreciation if its commitment is total. Man has failed to recognise the fact that the architectural vocation of any particular place should be governed by the culture of the inhabitants and the nature of the place. by recognising human and social needs, and by applications of suitable strategies and exchanges of design, all the complex requirements of architecture can be reconciled and integrated into structures which re both humane and efficient. The effectiveness of a transportation system is commonly measured in terms of its ability to efficiently process the transported unit and the performance of an airport system in dependent upon the individual components which comprises it. The aviation industry is highly technological due to its dynamism but as with all spheres of life aviation demands for growth, that growth promises dynamism. Airplanes have never stopped to fascinate me, such large objects flying gracefully up in the air and gliding down unto the thermal to taxi to a halt. Most of the people that get to know the organisational input that would have to be a ground before such a flight would have to take place. The airport is where these activities that make such flight possible, occurs. The airport a multi faceted yet correlated activity area may be viewed or a centripetally acting organised system that has the actual take off, flight and the landing of the aircraft at the centre of all these activities. Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos requires sequential utilisation several facilities and as such its overall efficiency had been limited by the characteristic of the least efficiency component which is the passenger and baggage handling facility. Proposal for Private airlines terminal building is an attempt at providing an ideal passengers terminal system that responds to passenger comfort and convenience requirements; that provides a favourable atmosphere for airline operators and airport management: that satisfies the peculiar nature of Murtala Mohammed Airport as regards domestic and occasional international flight operations; and that will accommodate possible organisational, economic or technological changes. Proposal for Private airlines terminal building is the acts of growing, increasing, becoming more complete and thus paving way for economic possibilities. Essential facilities that are required for the technical competency of Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos are available in serviceable condition. But lack of a proper passenger terminal system hinders its commercial viability. Thus, the end product of this research is a contribution to the Proposal for private airlines terminal building Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos.
