ABSTRACT

Status of the Voluntary Agency Post-Primary Institutions in Kaduna State After the Government Take-Over Statement of the Problem: The study sought to ascertain the status of the present post-primary schools (formerly owned by Voluntary Agencies) in Kaduna State. with special reference to the implementation of the recommendations made by the government committee, and the effectiveness of principals in running these schools by analyzing their (principals) leader behavior. Research Methods and Statistical Treatment: The study made use of the normative survey method. There were two forma of questionnaires used in the study: to collect data about extent of implementation of recommendations, and the Leader Behavior Questionnaire designed to collect data on the perceptions of principals and teachers about leader behavior. Research Samples: The study involved 10 principals and 150 teachers in the ten randomly selected postprimary institutions in Kaduna State during the academic session 1978-1979. The "hat-draw" method was used in the random selection of institutions and teacher-respondents of the study. The various data gathered for the study were subjected to statistical treatment which included tallying, averaging, percentage, ranking and the use of Chi-square test. Findings; An analysis of the data gathered resulted in the findings from which basic conclusions were drawn. Recommendationss In the light of the findings in these study recommendations were offered.
