ABSTRACT
This project aims at the design of an educational institution on the basis of certain Islamic principles which have been used throughout the centuries in the design of various buildings in different Islamic regions. Although the environment and physical needs of each region are different, there are some basic Islamic principles that are always used in the planning and design. One of the most important principles is the expression of culture of the muslim peoples being designed for Islam as a religion transcends both culture and tradition and hence allows full expression of the culture of the people as long as they do not conflict with the laws of Islam. Hence the project will reflect in both planning and design the various Islamic principles as well as the culture of the Hausa-Fulanis who are predominantly Muslims.
