Design and implementation of wireless data handling management system

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background Of The Study

For the past years, power lines have been used for the transmission of electricity; but nowadays with the emergence of modem networking technologies and the need for information spreading, data transmission over power lines has seen a really big growth. The technologies already used for spreading information such as telephone wiring, Ethernet cabling, fiber optic and wireless have each its limitations in cost and reliability. In this project we are going to discuss the advantages of using wireless as a communication medium and the wide range of applications that this technology can provide, in addition to the implementation of a home automation system using the data handling management system over wireless network.

This wireless handling management system is wireless Peer " to " Peer network. Peer-to-peer file sharing applications have been in existence for some time. Familiar applications or architectures such as Napster, Gnutella, and Freenet have a large user base.

The main design idea of these systems is files are distributed throughout nodes. This is much different from traditional client/server systems, where files would lie on one central machine, and all transfers would occur only between the individual clients and that machine. In peer-to-peer, file transfers can occur between the individual nodes.

This proposed system is another peer-to-peer file sharing method using router as a core device for sharing and managing data. Why did we decide to create one more file sharing system? The answer is that proposed systems have some unique properties, which distinguish it from other existing systems.

Wireless technologies have been developing rapidly in these years. The obvious advantage of wireless transmission is a significant reduction and simplification in wiring and harness (W. Ning, 2006). Many communication technologies, such as

IrDA, Bluetooth and ZigBee, GSM/GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), etc., have been developed for different situations. Nowadays, a kind of real time systems in which multiple sensors connected simultaneously to one gateway unit become necessary, and they are transformed into wireless sensor networks (WSNs).

Recently, man’s work and life are increasingly tight with the rapid growth in communications and information technology. The informationized society has changed human being’s way of life as well as challenged the traditional residence. Followed by the rapid economic expansion, living standard keeps raising up day by day that people have a higher requirement for dwelling functions. The intellectualized society brings diversified information where safe, economic, comfortable and convenient life has become the ideal for every modern family (Nausheen Belim, 2013).

It is will know that the concept of smart home has focused the attention of researchers, lifestyle practitioners, and the consumers to be directed forward the usage of the recent technology. Considerable efforts have been made to the development of remote control systems for home automation. The earlier work of such systems are mainly based on the use of telephone line, such as a phone-based system for home automation using a hardware-based remote controller, based on a personal computer approach (Bader M. O., 2014). According to Shepherd, 2001 the idea of using Bluetooth wireless technology as a cable replacement that exploited the wireless interconnectivity which can be implemented using radio home automation system method. However, he gave no design and implementation details in his work. Sriskanthan et. al., 2002 in Journal of Microprocessors and Microsystems, have developed an automated system based on Bluetooth wireless technology which allows the user to monitor and control different appliances that are connected over a Bluetooth network based on a mobile host controller. Alkar et. al., 2005 in An Internet Based Wireless Home Automation System for Multifunctional Devices have introduced an internet based wireless home automated system for multi-functional devices. Although the system has a low cost and flexible wireless solution to the home automation, there are still some limitations related to the wireless communication range and power failure

1.2 Statement Of Problem

The problem arise in the current system range from length of cable must not reach this particular length, speed of  a particular, plenty of wire everywhere on the wall, cable connector is not properly crimp etc those the problem face in the old system.

1.3 Aim Of The Study

The aim of this study is to design and implement of a wireless data handling management system.

1.4 Objective Of The Study

The objective of this project is to:

  1. Implement a wireless network for sharing information.
  2. Easy the staff of moving file from one office to the other.
  3. Eradicate the manual system
  4. To reduce stress for staff.
  5. Contributed to body of knowledge and final year research purpose.

1.5 Significance Of The Study

Projects provide a flexible framework for engaging students in exploring curricular topics and developing important 21st century skills, such as communication, teamwork, and technology skills. In addition, students are motivated by the fun and creative format and the opportunity to make new friends around the world. For teachers and organization in which this proposed system is implementing, wireless data handling management system enables quick and easy management of data and information in an organization.

1.6 Scope Of The Study

This proposed system is focus or covered on only wireless peer to peer network means of managing of data, it will not extend to wire peer to peer network and others.

1.7 Definition Of The Study

Data: The quantities, characters, or symbols on which operations are performed by a computer, which may be stored and transmitted in the form of electrical signals and recorded on magnetic, optical, or mechanical recording media.

Information: knowledge communicated or received concerning a particular fact or circumstance or knowledge gained through study, communication, research, instruction, etc.

Wireless Network: A wireless network is a computer network that uses wireless data connections between network nodes. Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and business installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations. Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented and administered using radio communication. This implementation takes place at the physical level of the OSI model network structure.

Ethernet: is a family of computer networking technologies commonly used in local area networks (LAN), metropolitan area networks (MAN) and wide area networks (WAN). It was commercially introduced in 1980 and first standardized in 1983 as IEEE 802.3, and has since been refined to support higher bit rates and longer link distances. Over time, Ethernet has largely replaced competing wired LAN technologies such as token ring, FDDI and ARCNET.

Management Information: A management information system focuses on the management of information technology to provide efficiency and effectiveness or strategy decision making. The concept may include systems termed transaction processing system, decision support system, expert system, or executive information system. The term is often used in the academic study of businesses and has connections with other areas, such as information systems, information technology, and informatics, e-commerce and computer science; as a result, the term is used interchangeably with some of these areas.

Peer To Peer Network: In its simplest form, a peer-to-peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer. A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection-a couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files
