ABSTRACT
Music predominates and performs specific roles in the daily activities of Moro' a people. It integrates with almost all the cultural , aesthetic, political , economic social, psychological, emotional and physiological aspect of their lives. Music is not just seen as an enjoyable pursuit, it helps in the continuity of tradition, because all musical types played in all societies have tradition which governs its modes and performance. Therefore, the role of music is obvious in peoples lives, philosophers and other people have recognised and paid tribute to the potent influence of music and human ideals, emotions and behaviours. People use music to express their attitudes to life, their hopes, fears, thoughts and beliefs. The impact of music is generally seen and felt most, than any other art because it generates responses before the intended meaning is understood, it moves the mind and soul directly. The Moro'a a philosophy of l i f e i s always manifested in musical activities. Music is a constant companion in social activities both for expressing sorrow and kappines. Songs are used at all times and are seasonal. They are particularly used to mark the geographical variations of the year. Music has v i i i continued to play a prominent role in most of the cultural activities of the Moro'a people-
