ABSTRACT
This study assessed the Impact of resources management on students? performance in secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa Education zones in Kaduna State. The study was carried out with six objectives which include to: assess the impact of human resources management on students? performances in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State; ascertain the impact of material resources management on students? performance in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State; and find out the impact of curriculum contents on students? performance in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. The population of the study is made up of 1857 respondents, comprising 81 principals, 1755 teachers and 21 supervisors from both Zaria and Giwa education zones respectively. A sample size of 25 principal, 527 teachers and 7supervisors were sampled for the study making the total of 559 respondents. This samples size was arrived at using stratified sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection in this study is questionnaire and it was duly validated by research supervisors, language experts and statistician. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha technique which showed a reliability index of 0.84. The bio-data of the respondents was analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of tables, frequency distribution and percentages to present and describe the pattern of the demographic characteristics of the respondents. In order to answer the research questions, mean and standard deviation was used, while the six null hypotheses were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 alpha level of significance. Findings from the study among others showed that: there is significant difference in the impact of human resources management on students? performance in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State. Likewise, there is no significant difference on the impact of material resources management on students? performance in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State. Also, significant difference was found in the impact of curriculum contents on students? performance in public secondary schools in Zaria and Giwa education zones in Kaduna State. Recommendations were made among others that School leaders should provide opportunities for teachers? professional development and encourage them to attend training sessions and subject forums organized by the ministry of education; Principals should ensure that schools procure and receive the appropriate textbooks for learners either from the government or through the internally generated revenues from the schools and that these are used for proper implementation of the curriculum contents. Also, government should commits more resources towards secondary education in order to achieve recurrent and physical infrastructure expansion.
