ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effects of Cognitive Restructuring and Solution-Focused Brief Counselling Techniques on Occupational Stress among female workers in tertiary institutions in Zaria Metropolis, Nigeria. The Study employed a quasi-experimental design involving pre-test post-test control group design. The Population of this study was two thousand six hundred and ninety nine (2699), thirty six (36) respondents were purposively selected from the population of female workers in tertiary institutions. Twelve respondents each were exposed to Cognitive Restructuring and Solution-Focused Brief Counselling techniques treatment. An Adopted instrument of Job Stress Inventory (JS1) was used in collecting the data. The two treatment groups were exposed to six week Cognitive Restructuring and Solution-Focused Brief Counselling techniques treatment while the control group had no treatment. Seven research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance using independent t-test, paired sample t-test and analysis of covariance (Ancova). From the result, it was recommended that Counsellor should be encourage to use Cognitive Restructuring and Solution-Focused Brief Counselling techniques to assist female workers in tertiary institutions to readdress their occupational stress.
