The deployment of communication process in the planning and implementation of any development intervention is crucial to its success and sustainability.How far the communication process allows for the participation of beneficiaries in the planning and implementation of the vision 20: 2020 Project in some selected communities in Kachia Local Government area was the main thrust of this research. In order to achieve this aim, the study adopted the qualitative and quantitative research methods in tits appraisal of the selected communities with vision 20:2020 projects covering three critical areas such as health, education and water/sanitation. The data and information gathered in this study showed that the communication approaches used were more exogenous, and this led to a moderate level participation in the planning and implementation of the interventions. The consequences of lack of full participation were manifested in the uneven distribution of development projects as well as lack of sustainability reported in some communities. Based on these findings, the study recommended that communication process in development intervention should be designed in such a way that it allows for the complete inclusion of stakeholders in the community since people‟s full participation is the way to development, project success and sustainability
