ABSTRACT

The selection of the
project title is no doubt a reflection of importance of distress as one of the central preoccupation in the country financial market today. Distress affects all segment of the society, so
it is paramount (a study the causes and resolution strategies.) The significant of this
project work is thus found in the following areas:



I.) This will shade
more light on the causes and effects of distress in banking industry to the academic
community particularly the faculty of Administration in ABU Zaria.



ii.) To inform the
current and potential investors on distress signals in the banking industry. This will
act as warning signal to the danger inherent ‘n distress bank.



iii.) The research
work would afford the management of banks an opportunity to appraise the causes of
distress in line with their operational procedure. This will help them device prudence and
better ways of allocation of scarce resources to avoid all the pitfall that lead to
distress condition.

regulatory/supervisory authorities on thc appropriate resolution strategies with the
view of finding a lasting solution to lingering distress syndrome.
