Promotion is an important aspect of any business organization. It determines the proper means of communicating availability and benefits of the product to the customer through various methods of promotion. It also creates awareness and stimulates interest
in the product or service.
This research is an attempt to appraise trade fairs and exhibitions as promotional tools for business organizations in Nigeria.
The staging of International trade fairs in Nigeria has assumed great importance in recent times. Though they are mainly commercial ventures they could also be looked at as avenues for technological development since they provide opportunities for a preview of the latest technology, product and or process development.
It is to this effect that the researcher has deemed it fit to investigate and appraise the role international trade fairs play in promoting business organizations in Nigeria. In other words this study is on trade fairs and exhibition as promotional tools for business organization in Nigeria with special reference to Kaduna International Trade Fair.
Amply discussed in this research are the evolution of trade fairs in general and in Nigeria in particular, trade fairs and exhibition as instrument of industrial development, the role of KCCIA in trade fairs and exhibitions, trade fairs and exhibition as promotional
tools for business organizations.
In obtaining information, questionnaires were administered to various business organizations who participate in the Kaduna International trade fairs and also to officials of Kaduna Chamber Commerce Industry and Agriculture.
Date collected from questionnaires administered were analyzed and interpreted. A test of hypothesis was also conducted on most of the questions.
Finally some recommendations were made and were poised directly to the Federal Government and the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture in their efforts to improve the organization of trade fairs for economic development of the Country.
