ABSTRACT
Every human needs to engage in different forms of recreation at various points in his life, in the bid to make productive use of leisure time. The result of this is a rejuvenating experience. A resort is essentially developed for the sojourn of visitors and tourists, providing multiple facilities for their recreation, accommodation, leisure, and other needs. Jacaranda resort is a major tourist attraction in Kaduna State, located at the outskirts of the capital. The basis for this research is on the need to upgrade the existing facilities which are inadequate in catering for recreation/leisure needs of the public. The project involves the provision of accommodation facilities, recreational facilities and other basic facilities. The design is based on the principles of Ecological Architecture, with a focus on the existing facilities, landscape, and topography. These constitute the design concept with the aim of creating a harmonious relationship between the old facilities, the new facilities, and the surrounding site. Providing for the visitors' / tourists' satisfaction, and comfort, is the goal.
