ABSTRACT
This study analyses the literary and poetic capability of Sa'eed Abdulqadir as one of the leading modern poets writing in Arabic language in Nigeria. The poems were selected from his divan which characterized by highly qualitative rhetoric devices - what can be deduced as an indication of his robust educational background and in Nigeria and Egypt, Al-Azhar University to be precise. Therefore, this work aims at analyzing selected poems of the poet to explore their literary worthiness and shed more light where some may consider complex. The stylistic composure of the poems was intensively discussed through highlighting the soundness of the poet ranging from Rhetoric, Grammar and Morphology. In addition, the study pays consideration to artistic evaluation of the poems, and discusses the textual magnitude on how the form and content have been systematically married. By the form, there is a discussion on poetic feet, rhythm and rhyme. The content, on the other hand, the study surveys the literary values and intellection incarnated in the poems. For the findings, the research discovers that the selected poems have depicted a very striking and distinctive poetic ingenuity the poet had as can be seen in their composition. Also, the selected poems glaringly show how they embody and reflect the social situation surrounding the poet. Finally the researcher found that the selected poems are full of rhetoric instances and illustrations.
