The purposes of this study are: to investigate how play-way strategy act as a re-enforcer in the teaching of mathematics, know the better performance of students when play-way strategy is used in the teaching of mathematics, find out whether play-way strategy arouses the interest of the students in the teaching of mathematics and to find out whether play way   strategy helps in classroom activities. To achieve the above purpose, the researcher adopted a survey design and also  used  literature from web and other sources; stratified random sampling was used to select five secondary schools where students and teachers were readily available. The main instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. A total of 210 respondents served as sample size for the study. The data collected was analyzed using chi-square statistics at a level of significance of 5%. The findings reveal that: play-way strategy act as a re-enforcer in the teaching of mathematics; students perform better when play-way strategy is used in the teaching of mathematics; play-way strategy arouse the interest of the students in the teaching of  mathematics; there is an extent to which appropriate use of play-way strategy help in class room activities.
